"Go hard every play. You don’t want to leave anything behind and regret it years
down the road that you didn’t give it all when you could have."
--Ashley DeBuhr, pitcher, Univ. of Nebraska
Q. About how many baseballs does a major league team use per season?
A. A lot. John Silverman, equipment manager for the Florida Marlins, says a big
league ball lasts just three to four pitches. During an average game, up to
eight dozen are used. Over a 162-game season, therefore, the 30 major-league
teams together use more than 220,000 balls. That's good news for Rawlings, maker of
the official major-league baseball.
